Jon Snow (Channel 4 News Presenter)

Jon Snow joined ITN in 1976 and became Washington Correspondent in 1984. Since then, he has travelled the world to cover the news – from the fall of the Berlin Wall and the release of Nelson Mandela, to Barack Obama’s inauguration and the earthquake in Haiti.

Jon Snow first visited Somalia in 1976 and returned a few dozen times after that. He was one of the early Western journalists to extensively cover Somalia’s war with Ethiopia (1977-78), interview the late Somali leader — Mohammed Siad Barre and tour the country in the late 1970s.
